Our exceptional, friendly staff is our greatest asset. Our office manager, dental assistants, and dental hygienists are licensed professionals who pride themselves on staying on the cutting edge of dentistry and patient communication. They are excited about what they are doing, have high standards of quality and integrity, and are motivated to achieve the best results for our family of patients.

Our dedicated and motivated staff has one primary goal—your utmost comfort! Dr. David D. Shin, DDS

Meet Our Doctor . . .Born and raised in the Los Angeles area, Dr. Shin entered a six-year program after high school, and received both his Bachelors of Arts in Biology and Doctorate of Dental Surgery degrees from the University of Missouri at Kansas City in May 1994. Upon graduation, he returned to Los Angeles and worked in various dental offices and settings for five years. A wide range of experiences aided opening his dental office in October 1999.

Committed to expanding professional skills and knowledge on a continuing basis, Dr. Shin devotes a considerable amount of his time and energy attending professional seminars and symposiums. The knowledge gained from these educational seminars ensure our patients enjoy the most up-to-date and researched procedures and techniques available.

During his professional education in Kansas City, Dr. Shin volunteered services for the Kansas City Free Dental Clinic, the Kansas City Homeless Shelter, Habitat for Humanity, and the Christian Medical and Dental Society.

Volunteering one day a month at Dientes of Santa Cruz (a non-profit dental clinic) from 1999 to 2002, and working on orphans in Mexico with the Rotary Club on various occasions, Dr. Shin continues pro-bono dental cases referred by RotoCare of Seaside in his private office, as well as volunteer dental treatment with Adventist Medical Evangelism Network (AMEN).

A proud member of the Monterey Bay Dental Society (MBDS), California Dental Society, and American Dental Society, Dr. Shin is also the MBDS Ethics Committee Chairman.

Melissa

Front Office Manager

Melissa, our front office manager, entered the dental field right out of high school. Beginning as a registered dental assistant, and later a certified oral surgery assistant, she transitioned to the front office in 2008. Clinical experience enhances her care and understanding of patient treatment, scheduling, and informational needs. Melissa is a Monterey native, attending Monterey High School and MPC. She enjoys spending time with her husband and family, attending her son's sporting events, and walking her dog Cali.

Martha

Dental Hygienist

Martha, our hygienist, oversees our dental health and maintenance program. Many patients are amazed at how meticulously thorough her cleanings and root planings are. Attending Santa Catalina High School, she later received her Certificate in Dental Hygiene from Cabrillo College. Martha enjoys horseback riding, gardening, photography and Photoshop. In her words, “Horses are a passion that keeps me broke.”

Heather

Dental Hygienist

Born and raised in Salinas, Heather's passion for teeth began in high school. She retired as our chairside dental assistant in 2003, returning to school. Graduating from Cabrillo with a Dental Hygiene degree, she is now our hygienist. Heather loves animals, spending time with her two sons, and removing calculus (tartar)

Meredith

Primary Chairside Assistant

Meredith is our primary chairside assistant. She calms the most apprehensive patients with her gentle spirit. Graduating from MPC, she earned her RDA license after finishing the Dental Assisting Program there. Aside from gardening and photography, she is also our chocolate aficionado.

Yvonne

Dental Hygienist

Yvonne, our primary hygienist, worked as a dental assistant in high school and college. Graduating from Salinas High, she continued college graduating from the Cabrillo Dental Hygiene program. Yvonne spends her spare time with family and friends, and playing with her white German shepherd.
